Gail Schorsch is the founder and director of Bronx Eats, Inc., a community-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering Bronx families through increased access to nutritious food and interactive cooking education.
Under her leadership, Bronx Eats has grown from local partnerships with community organizations—including founding the Fordham Farmers Market—to establishing long-term partnerships with Bronx public schools and becoming a DOE-approved vendor under the Food and Nutrition Grant.
Through regular fresh produce distributions and interactive cooking demonstrations led by professional, relatable chefs, Bronx Eats provides families with affordable, culturally relevant recipes, nutrition education, and hands-on culinary experiences. Gail’s vision extends beyond food distribution; she is building sustainable systems that address food inequities while promoting health, wellness, and community connection.
Passionate about supporting local culinary professionals and creating opportunities for meaningful community engagement, Gail has positioned Bronx Eats at the intersection of food justice, education, and public health. She brings a unique combination of teaching expertise, culinary training, and market-management experience to her work.
Her mission is clear: build a more equitable, nourishing, and healthy Bronx—one family, one meal, and one community partnership at a time.
“The opportunity to work together with other people who you do not know to create something larger than yourself is a rarity in today’s society. We don’t get to do that often enough.”
